Split a PDF

Extract the pages you need, cut a long PDF every few pages, or save each page as its own file. The PDF is split in your browser and never uploaded.

Drop a PDF to split

Pick pages by clicking them, type page ranges, or cut it every few pages.

Processed in your browser. Your files never leave your computer.

How it works

  1. 1

    Drop the PDF

Its pages are counted right away.

  2. 2

    Choose how to split

Page ranges like 1-3, 5, 8-; equal parts of n pages; or one file per page.

  3. 3

    Download

One PDF, or a ZIP with one PDF per part.

Common uses

  • Send only what's needed: the two pages of a contract a client must sign, or one month out of a yearly statement file.
  • Separate scanned batches: a scanner produced one PDF for twenty receipts; split every page into its own file.
  • Stay under upload limits: portals that cap file size accept the document in smaller parts.

Need to rearrange instead?

To change the order of pages, rotate them or delete a few, use Organize PDF pages. To combine files, use Merge PDF.

Bookkeeping examples

  • A year of statements in one download: some banks export a single PDF for several months. Extract each month's pages to file them by period or send one month to a client.
  • Supporting documents for one transaction: pull the invoice page out of a long vendor packet to attach it to the bill in your accounting software.
  • Payroll and tax packets: separate each employee's form from a combined PDF before distributing them.

Finding the right pages

The page thumbnails let you check where each section starts before you type ranges, and you can open any page at full size. Open-ended ranges like 8- run to the last page, so you don't need to count pages in long files.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write page ranges?

Separate them with commas: 1-3, 5, 8- gives three files (pages 1 to 3, page 5, and page 8 to the end). Tick Put all the selected pages in one file to extract them into a single PDF instead.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied unchanged into the new files.

Why are there several files in a ZIP?

When the split produces more than one PDF, they're packed into one ZIP so your browser downloads a single file. Each part is named after its pages, like report_p1-3.pdf.

Is the file uploaded?

No. Everything happens on your device.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Files that need a password to open can't be read. Save an unprotected copy from your PDF reader first, if you're allowed to.

Are bookmarks and links kept?

Page content is copied unchanged, including links within the page. The document's bookmarks (outline) aren't carried over to the new files.
