When an image is better than a PDF
- Portals and forms that only accept JPG or PNG uploads.
- Pasting a page into a presentation, a chat message or a report.
- Sharing one page of a statement on a screen without sending the whole file.
Before sharing a page of a bank statement, consider removing the other pages with Split PDF so only what's needed leaves your hands.
File size and legibility
An A4 or letter page at 150 DPI is about 1,240 by 1,650 pixels: sharp on screen and usually a few hundred kilobytes as JPG. At 300 DPI, the pixel count is four times higher, which matters when a portal caps uploads at 2 or 5 MB. For text-heavy pages, PNG at 150 DPI is often both sharper and smaller than JPG at 300.
Downloading many pages
One page downloads as a single image. Several pages download as one ZIP, with files numbered by page (statement_page-01.jpg, statement_page-02.jpg…) so they stay in order when you unzip them.
Going the other way
To turn images back into a PDF, for example after annotating a page, use JPG to PDF. To make a scanned PDF searchable without converting it to images, use PDF Text Scanner.
